We CAN Go To Camp

The We CAN Go to Camp program is a weekend opportunity for the whole family to enjoy an outdoor experience in an organized group setting. This program is designed to encourage interactions between family members and provide opportunities for networking between families.  Families will get to enjoy a range of outdoor/indoor activities, as well as have some free time to enjoy the beautiful camp settings.

PROGRAM CRITERIA (for Family Camps):

• All ages welcome
• Must have at least one family member with an ASD diagnosis who must be in attendance
• Must have a CAN family membership
• Each child attending camp must be registered through the Family Membership program, and be registered for the camp individually
• Commitment to attend the entire weekend

The 2012 family camps are scheduled for June 1st-3rd (Camp Shawnigan, Vancouver Island) and June 8th-10th (Camp Stillwood, near Chilliwack).

Registration for both family camps is now full – if you would like to be added to the waitlist, please email camp@canucksautism.ca with the following information:

- camp you wish to attend

- number of adults and number of children in your family

I CAN Go To Camp

Kids Camp

I CAN Go To Camp is a weekend opportunity for children with ASD and their siblings to get away and enjoy a weekend the great outdoors. There will be a high ratio of volunteers to ensure a successful camp experience for all participants!

Great news! The dates and locations for the Kids Camp have now been solidified. This year’s camp will take place at the Outdoor School in Squamish, BC from June 22-24, 2012.

Set at Camp Squamish, this camp will include lots of fun activities including swimming, soccer, field games, arts and crafts. This weekend is packed with fun that all children will enjoy.

PROGRAM CRITERIA (for Kids Camp):

• Ages 9-17 years old (must be within specified age when attending the camp)
• Have an ASD diagnosis or be a sibling to a camper with ASD
• Must be registered through the Family Membership program, and be registered for the camp individually
• Have a CAN family membership
• Commitment to attend  the entire weekend
• Able to provide their own transportation to and from the camp

How to register:

• Family must be  part of the CAN Family Membership Program
• All applications will be reviewed and notified of their status in the program
• Upon acceptance into the program, each family member attending will be required to submit a medical form signed by  their doctor

If you are interested in filling out the medical form in advance, you can do so here: Medical Form. Every family member attending camp must have a signed medical form in order to attend. Completion of a medical form does not guarantee acceptance.

The completed forms can be emailed to camp@canucksautism.ca or faxed to the CAN Office 604-685-4018.

Both family camps are now full. Please email tasha@canucksautism.ca to get on the wait list! Make sure to specify which camp you would like to attend and the number of adults and children in your family. You will be notified upon acceptance.
